TANKERS Another quiet day in all areas with the exception of the Med. market. – Suezmaxes still with no demand with North Sea at W/S 67.5 for 135,000 tons of cargo and W. Africa at W/S 62.5 for 130,000 tons. – Aframaxes on the Cont. very near to W/S 85 despite the adverse weather conditions, while Caribs at W/S 110 with limited fresh inquiry. – Med. presently with better results trading at W/S 107.5 and with prospects of soon reaching W/S 110. – BP has fixed M/T «Histria Diamond» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 18 Tunisia, discharging UKC/Med. at W/S 105. – On the Cont., Stasco for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 8 Denmark, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Prospect» at W/S 85. – In Caribs, Sun has fixed M/T «Crude Ocean» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 16, discharging USAC-US Gulf at W/S 110. DRY CARGO A dull Atlantic Cape market, with activity relying on the Pacific also trying to keep index at present levels. – Limited inquiry on Panamaxes with the only grain cargoes out of the US Gulf destined for mostly Egyptian Med. ports. – Handymax behave better in this area, with NYK bulk having fixed M/V «Giorgis Carras,» 42,053 dwt, built 1984, delivery US Gulf for two laden legs via West Coast of South America at USD 7,500 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Pan Ocean has fixed M/V «Miyama I,» 69,755 dwt, built 1987, delivery Taiwan Feb. 7-12, for 3-5 months at USD 6,500 daily. – In Atlantic, Clipper has fixed M/V «Rodon Amarandon,» 74,090 dwt, built 2001, delivery US Gulf Feb. 10-20, trip via Arabian Gulf, redelivery Muscat, at USD 7,200 daily and USD 120,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, IVS has fixed M/V «Leader I,» 38,110 dwt, built 1983, delivery Feb. 12-18 S. Africa, redelivery UKC at USD 6,150 daily.
