TANKERS The Med. is dominating the market with plenty of Aframax fixtures, mainly out of the Black Sea, while rates remain unchanged. – A bit more activity in the N. Sea. Rates however, are unchanged. DEA has fixed Fortum tonnage for 80,000 tons of cargo loading UK Feb. 13-14, discharging Germany at W/S 85. – Caribs quiet with latest 70,000-ton cargoes being fixed at W/S 105-110. – On Suezmax, W. Africa a bit more active on earlier dates, with Alliance having succeed with W/S 68.5 for Feb. 21 loading. – In the Med., Exxon for 80,000 tons of cargo loading Feb. 15 Tunisia, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Westminster» at W/S 100, while Arcadia has fixed M/T «Genmar Trader» for 80,000 tons of cargo loading Feb. 23 Syria with same destination at W/S 107.5. – In the Continent, CSSA for 80,000 tons of cargo loading Feb. 8 Denmark, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Mayon Spirit» at W/S 85. – In Caribs, Blanchard has fixed M/T «Tromso Rreliance» for 70,000 tons of cargo loading Feb. 13 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 105. DRY CARGO Far East on Capers remains active with the Atlantic contributing to a more positive situation. – In the Panamax sector, it is difficult to find much encouragement with freight rates dragging along the last lows. – In Far East, Conagra for 56,000 tons of grain loading W. Coast N. Pacific Feb. 15-25, discharging Taiwan, has paid USD 10.75 per ton with 10,000-ton load and 4,000 tons discharge. – On Capers, Hanjin has fixed M/V «Cape Providence» 146,019 dwt, built 1987, delivery Ireland mid-Feb. for 5-7 months period at USD 7,850 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Bunge has fixed M/V «Gallia Graecia» 73,900 dwt, built 2001, delivery China mid-Feb. for 4-6 month period at USD 6,800 daily. – In Atlantic, Pan Ocean has fixed M/V «North Emperor» 67,229 dwt, built 1987, delivery US Gulf Feb. 20-28, redelivery Far East, at USD 6,500 daily and USD 100,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, Mur has fixed M/V «Midway II» 42,792 dwt, built 1985, delivery S. Africa Feb. 11-18, redelivery Continent, at USD 6,300 daily.
