OPAP will operate Stoichima
OPAP shares gained more than 5 percent yesterday after the gaming company confirmed it would take over the running and risk management of its main sport betting game Pame Stoichima by early 2007. «The OPAP board expresses its certainty that this decision guarantees and maximizes the interests of the company and its shareholders in the medium to long term,» the company said in a stock market filing. OPAP initially planned to call a tender seeking an international consultant to help it manage Pame Stoichima. But earlier in June, it said it would look for the best way to take the game in-house. A newspaper reported yesterday that OPAP was looking into several options, ranging from taking Pame Stoichima in-house to hiring a foreign betting company as a consultant. (Reuters)
