TANKERS Steady market with the start of the new week. Rates in the Med. for modern Aframax at W/S 125 with some cargoes still to be fixed. On Suezmax demand is easier, with latest fixtures for 135,000 tons at W/S 85. – Cont. remains stable with 80,000 tons of cargoes having been fixed at W/S 110, while Caribs for long at W/S 102,5 for the 70,000 tons cargo liftings. – On Suezmax, W. Africa is not very active, having seen cargoes until the end of March. VLCCs are expected to claim a substantial part of this market. – In the Med., N. Hydro for 80,000 tons of cargo loading March 20 Libya, discharging Sweden, has fixed M/T «Nordic Yukon» at W/S 110. – In the Continent, Emerald for 80,000 tons of cargo loading March 16, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Valiant» at W/S 110. – In Caribs, Chevtex for 70,000 tons of cargo loading March 16 East Coast Mexico discharging US Gulf has fixed M/T «Crude Progress» at W/S 102.5. DRY CARGO Quieter conditions on Capers, with Atlantic showing a slight uncertainty for earlier dates with tonnage anxious to get cover for end-March dates. – Panamaxes on the Atlantic is easier, despite the interesting fixture of M/V «North Prince» 75,522 dwt, built 1999, which was fixed with delivery Continent end March – beg. April for 4-7 months period at USD 9,250 daily. – The Far Eastern market is steadily improving, with a number of new cargoes and fixtures. the M/V «Maratha Mission» 76,905 dwt, built 1985, delivery Muscat March 12-18 trip via India redelivery Far East was fixed at USD 8,850 daily. – Handymax/Handies are at steady levels. – On Capers, Daeyang has fixed M/V «Linda Emilia» 150,000 dwt, built 1991, delivery China March 8-12 trip via Australia redelivery China at USD 10,500 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Daeyang has fixed M/V «Linda Oldendorff» 75,000 dwt, built 1995, delivery end March Taiwan for 12 months period at USD 8,250 daily. – In Atlantic, Pan Ocean has fixed M/V «Four Coal» 74,000 dwt, built 1999, delivery Passero end March redelivery Far East at USD 9,250 daily.
