Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis (l) meets European Investment Bank President Philippe Maystadt during the EIB annual conference in Athens, where it opened yesterday and runs to today. The EIB will complete the agreements today for 390 million euros of funding for projects in Greece, while a loan of 150 million euros will be confirmed soon for the underwater tunnel in Thessaloniki. The EIB has already issued loans of 245 million euros to Greece this year. Karamanlis said the government aims to develop new ties with the EIB in favor of public-private partnerships and the funding of projects in sectors such as health and education.
