TANKERS Despite the fair amount of activity in the N. Sea, Aframax rates moved downwards from W/S 115 to W/S 110, with owners preferring fixing than trading prompt for highter rates. – Med. stable at W/S 120 despite the two fixtures at W/S 130 for prompt positions while Caribs around W/S 105-107.5 with an increased amount of fixtures. – Suezmax out of W. Africa no more than W/S 65, W/S 67.5 and W/S 70 for US Gulf/Usac and UKC respectively. – In the Med., Chevtex for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading March 28 Black Sea, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Seabravery 11» at W/S 120. – On the Continent, Shell for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading March 27 UK, discharging UKC, has fixed Lundqvist tonnage at W/S 110. – In Caribs, Equiva has fixed M/T «Kuban» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading March 25 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 105. – In W. Africa, Sun for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading April 9, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Cosmic» at W/S 67.5. DRY CARGO With the steel industry worldwide suffering from reduced demand, Capers market is not expected to change substantially. Demand remains limited. – Panamax market is performing better than expected with a number of new cargoes and demand for short T/C periods. Klaveness has fixed M/V «Dimitris L» 73,150 dwt, built 2001, for 11-13-month period at USD 8,750 daily. – Handysize tonnage out of US Gulf remains active, with the owners preferring to trading Atlantic than positioning vessels in Far East. – Black Sea also, with good supply of cargoes. 40,000 dwt craned bulkers are fixed at USD 9,000 daily for Middle East destinations. – On Capers, Cobam has fixed M/V «Diamond Warrior,» 197,091 dwt, built 1984, delivery end-March China, for 12 months at 12,250 daily. – On Panamax in Far Easr, Augustea has fixed M/V «President G,» 69,344 dwt, built 1988, delivery end-March Indonesia for two legs, redelivery Atlantic, at USD 6,500 daily. – In Atlantic, Worthington has fixed M/V «City of Dubrovnik,» 62,297 dwt, built 1983, delivery Gibraltar end-March via East Coast S. America, redelivery UKC/Med. at USD 6,300 daily.
