The summer sales period started yesterday and is scheduled to end on August 31. Discounts on clothing and footwear were generally in the 30-50 percent range. Officials caution shoppers that all discounted items have to have clear displays of both the old and the new prices. Fines for misleading or incorrect figures range between 1,000 and 100,000 euros.
