Aegean support deal

Germany’s Lufthansa Technik will offer Greek listed firm Aegean Airlines integrated technical and engineering support for the next eight years, after the signing of a contract between the two firms. «The new cooperation with Lufthansa Technik forms part of our effort to secure the most credible functioning of our company and to provide connectivity with the whole of Greece for our domestic and international network,» said Dimitris Geroyiannis, Aegean’s CEO. The German carrier’s subsidiary announced yesterday that it will serve a fleet of up to 27 Airbus A320 aircraft, while also offering spare parts to the airline’s hub in Athens. The technical base of Lufthansa has a preselected stock of over 1,000 different codes of spare parts and maintenance items. The two companies further signed another agreement for Total Engineering Support (TES), concerning the integrated technical coverage of IAEV2500 engines of Airbus aircraft that are gradually being incorporated into the Aegean Airlines fleet. The maintenance and the technical support of the engines will be based on the agreed delivery timetables, while Lufthansa Technik will supply access to any engines available in case Aegean Airlines makes such a request. «The technical commitment and specialization of the world’s top supplier of spare parts, control systems and engine repair will facilitate the entry into operation of the brand-new set of Airbus aircraft we have just incorporated into our fleet,» said Geroyiannis.
