Intralot expands, winning New Mexico lottery tender

Lottery systems supplier Intralot said yesterday it had won a tender to provide an online gaming system for the New Mexico lottery, expanding its presence in the United States. New Mexico’s lottery offers instant tickets and five lotto-style games to the state’s 1.8 million people. Per capita lottery spending in the state has strong growth potential, said Intralot, the world’s second-largest lottery systems provider by sales, in a statement. The contract, pending final negotiations, will be for an initial seven-year period with the option of a further three-year extension, while the system will be operational from November 2008, it said. The company did not cite the expected value of the contract. The Greek provider, which is also a gaming operator, will upgrade operating systems, provide terminals and install a satellite network linking retailer terminals to the central system. (Reuters)
