Greek stocks add 1.3 percent

Greek stocks rose more than 1 percent yesterday, supported by rising European equities, as the market posted gains for a third straight session. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark general index added 1.31 percent to close at 3,345.64 points. Banks gained 1.63 percent, with National Bank, the country’s largest lender, gaining 2.58 percent to 27.80 euros. Alpha Bank and Marfin Investment Group posted gains of more than 3 percent. Among the losers was Piraeus Bank, which gave up 1.69 percent to end at 17.40 euros. Winners outnumbered losers 157 to 77, with 43 shares unchanged. Turnover for the session reached 138.9 million euros versus 206 million in the previous session.
