Greek stocks go up 0.76 percent
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark general index gained 0.76 percent to 3,315.66 points yesterday, supported by gains in European markets. The FTSE/ATHEX blue chip index outperformed, adding 1.32 percent. Banks, which have recently taken a heavy beating, added 1.63 percent, boosted by gains of 2.66 percent and 4.66 percent in National Bank and Bank of Cyprus respectively. Shares in OTE telecom advanced 1.73 percent to 15.26 euros, while Public Power Corporation (PPC) jumped 4.61 percent to 20.42 euros. Of a total 277 shares traded, 86 ended the day with gains and 145 lost ground while 46 finished unchanged. Turnover for the day stood at 153 million euros versus 214 million euros in the previous session.
