Stocks rise; near 3,300 pts

Greek stocks moved ahead yesterday, heading toward 3,300 points as bank gains helped lift the broader market. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index added 0.76 percent ending at 3,292.69 points. National Bank outperformed, gaining 4.55 percent, after its earnings beat expectations while Piraeus Bank jumped 4.52 percent to 18.50 euros. Intralot followed up Thursday’s decline of more than 4 percent by losing 5.07 percent yesterday to end at 8.62 euros on concerns its new Turkish contract was priced too low. The FTSE/ATHEX 20 blue chip index added 1.24 percent, while the FTSE/ATHEX 80 small-cap index slipped 0.61 percent. Turnover was 260 million euros versus 248 million euros previously.
