UN exhibition booth opens in Syntagma

Authorities inaugurated yesterday a booth under the aegis of the United Nations in Syntagma Square, central Athens, to provide information on programs aimed at promoting international development and the eradication of poverty. ‘I hope that the exhibition will give the public an idea of how the UN works and will encourage people to take part in this conscious effort on the part of our country, with a view to achieving the Millennium Development Goals,’ said Theodoros Skylakakis, general secretary at the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Funding from Greece’s Foreign Ministry to help out less developed countries and assist states as they adjust to climate change is expected to reach 20 million euros in the coming four-year period.
