Stocks surpass 1,700-pt mark
Greek stocks added nearly 1 percent yesterday, recapturing the 1,700 point mark, on selective blue chip buying. The Athens Exchange’s (ATHEX) benchmark general index rose 0.93 percent to 1,710.87 points, after touching on an intrasession high of 1,722 points. The Public Power Corporation (PPC) added to Monday’s strong gains by rising 3.04 percent yesterday to 12.88 euros. Cement company Titan jumped 6.47 percent to 12.84 euros, while refinery Motor Oil advanced 3.23 percent to 7.68 euros. European stock markets sustained slight losses yesterday. Turnover on the Athens bourse picked up to 101.8 million euros from 81 million euros on the previous session.
