Stocks move up in quiet session

Mid-caps pulled the local stock market higher yesterday, although the bourse’s turnover remained at particularly low levels. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index expanded to 1,768.18 points yesterday, gaining 0.37 percent from last Friday’s close. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index climbed by just 0.04 percent to 902.09 points, while the mid-cap FTSE/ASE 40 index rose by 0.94 percent. Leading the blue chips were the stocks of Titan cement (up 4.31 percent), Intralot (4.22 percent), Hellenic Postbank (2.26 percent), Hellenic Petroleum (2.11 percent) and Hellaktor (2.01 percent). On the losing side were Eurobank EFG (down 4.80 percent), Marfin Popular Bank (1.73 percent) and the Public Power Corporation (1.37 percent). Turnover came to a meager 80.7 million euros.
