MIG aiming for a strong Olympic

Marfin Investment Group (MIG) vice president Andreas Vgenopoulos expressed his intention to turn Olympic Airlines back into a healthy, quality and competitive airline to the benefit of its shareholders and to serve the country’s needs. Speaking yesterday at a press conference in Iraklion, Crete, Vgenopoulos stressed MIG will not sell off Olympic as «MIG has never sold a company after acquiring its share control and management.» MIG will not object to the state acquiring a minority stake so as to ensure Olympic will still fly to areas of strategic interest. «We will never say that we are stopping flying to certain strategic areas in the country without warning,» he added, while announcing that the new Olympic will start operating from early October. He also assured employees that they will not lose their privileges whether they choose to stay at the airline or to leave, and he praised the company’s pilots for their contribution to its image over the decades.
