Stocks rise for fourth session

The Athens bourse advanced 1.44 percent yesterday, outperforming its European peers, as buyers turned to small- and mid-cap stocks. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index ended at 1,928.29 points, its fourth session of consecutive gains. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added just over 1 percent to 982.20 points. Alpha Bank ranked among the outperformers, rising 3.66 percent to 6.80 euros. The mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index advanced 3.91 percent, while the small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index gained 3.04 percent. Real estate developer Babis Vovos soared 24.36 percent to 3.88 euros and Intracom Holdings leapt 15.28 percent to 0.83 euros. Turnover reached 246 million euros versus 360 million in the previous session.
