Stocks retreat 0.04 percent

Greek equities eased marginally yesterday as blue chip losses offset gains in mid-cap and small-cap stocks. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index fell 0.04 percent to 1,925.81 points after touching on an intra-session high of 1,935 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index slipped 0.28 percent to close at 971.37 points. Index heavyweights National Bank and OTE telecom each fell, 0.69 percent and 3.67 percent respectively, to 14.35 euros and 11.29 euros. The FTSE/ATHEX 40 mid-cap index advanced 0.62 percent, while the FTSE/ATHEX 80 small-cap index added 0.74 percent. Fish-farming company Nireus soared 15.94 percent to 0.80 euros, while Internet service provider Forthnet jumped 7.14 percent to 1.20 euros. Turnover reached 122 million euros versus 148 million in the previous session.
