Stocks advance, small-caps shine
The Athens bourse advanced for the fifth straight session yesterday, adding 1.42 percent as buying interest shifted to small-caps. The general index ended at 2,191.18 points, close to a session high of 2,196 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index advanced by 1.35 percent to close at 1,134.52 points. National Bank, which has gained 18 percent over the last week, dipped 1.12 percent to 17.70 euros on slight profit-taking. OTE telecom jumped 4.13 percent to 12.10 euros and the Public Power Corporation added 4.26 percent to 14.70 euros. The small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index outperformed, rising 2.66 percent. Turnover reached 347.3 million euros versus 392 million in the previous session.
