Stocks drop but keep 2,400 pts

The Athens bourse lost 0.77 percent yesterday, but clung onto the 2,400-point mark, as buyers cashed in recent gains in bank stocks. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index ended at 2,408.75 points after dipping to an intra-session low of 2,392 points. Banks lost 3.58 percent. National Bank tumbled 4.07 percent to 20.05 euros, bringing gains in the last week to just over 7 percent. Eurobank closed the session at 8.70 euros, down 4.61 percent. OTE Telecom outperformed, advancing 5.41 percent to 12.30 euros. The mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index climbed 0.99 percent and the small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index inched ahead 0.11 percent. Turnover reached 270 million euros, versus 340 million previously.
