Week ends on a high for stocks

Stocks registered further gains yesterday on a day of increased turnover, in line with European markets. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index rose to 2,331.32 points yesterday, gaining 1.57 percent from Thursday’s closing. The blue chip FTSE ATHEX 20 index climbed 1.79 percent to end up at 1,200.57 points. The blue chips with the best performance were Titan cement (up 5.49 percent), Viohalco (5.15 percent) and Intralot (4.21 percent), while OTE telecom (down 1.13 percent) and Public Power Corporation (0.57 percent) were on the losing side. Turnover rebounded from Thursday’s 100 million euros to reach 179.3 million euros.
