Stocks regain 2,500 points

Greek stocks added 0.91 percent yesterday, boosted by late-session buying, closing above the 2,500-point resistance level. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index ended at a session high of 2,505.74 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added 0.69 percent to 1,327.52 points. OPAP jumped 4.20 percent to 16.88 euros. The betting company reported after the close of trade a bigger-than-expected drop in second-quarter net profit to 155.5 million euros. Banks advanced 0.18 percent. National slipped 0.61 percent to 22.89 euros but Piraeus Bank gained 1.40 percent to 10.90 euros. Refinery Motor Oil also outperformed, jumping 2.96 percent to 8.70 euros. Turnover reached 174.8 million euros versus 224 million euros in the previous session.
