Losses prevail in Monday trade

Greek stocks fell just over 1 percent yesterday on across-the-board losses, but the general index held the 2,500-point mark. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index shed 1.07 percent to close at a session low of 2,527.90 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped by 1.03 percent to 1,324.77 points. OTE telecom fell 1.72 percent to 11.45 euros and Public Power Corporation eased 1.13 percent to 14.86 euros. Emporiki Bank, majority owned by France’s Credit Agricole, outperformed, rising 8.71 percent to 4.99 euros. Retailer Jumbo also advanced, rising 5.93 percent to 5.58 euros. Turnover reached 158.7 million euros yesterday, down from 200 million euros in the previous session.
