TANKERS The Aframax market in the N. Sea is moving in the right direction with Vitol having fixed M/T «Anna Knutsen» at W/S 130. It remains to be seen whether this is a continuous scenario or only for month’s end loadings. – Med. market is also firming, with Total having paid W/S 122.5 for a Tunisia cargo to M/T «Blacksea» with a loading date of June 30. – Caribs are weakening further due to the absence of VLCCs and the appearance of the lighter vessels in the market. The 70,000-ton cargo liftings are fixed presently at W/S 135. – W. Africa on Suezmax with minor activity despite Emerald’s fixture of M/T «Ishwari» for 130,000 tons of cargo loading July 7, discharging USAC, at W/S 82.5. – In the Med., Repsol for 80,000 tons of cargo loading June 27 Libya, discharging Spain, has fixed M/T «Shannon Spirit» at W/S 107.5. – In the Cont., Equiva for 80,000 tons of cargo loading July 3, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Sks Trent» at W/S 122.5. – In Caribs, Petrobras for 70,000 tons of cargo loading June 22, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Olympic Symphony» at W/S 155. – In W. Africa and on VLCCs, CSSA for 260,000 tons of cargo loading June 28, discharging UKC / Med., has fixed M/T «Ascona» at W/S 42.5. DRY CARGO A little more optimism for Capers in the Atlantic with the volume of available tonnage thinning out. Owners in the area can fix for 160,000 tons of coal cargo at USD 5.25 per ton Richards Bay / Rotterdam. – In the East, Coscobulk has fixed M/V «Corona Fury» for 150,000 tons of ore loading Australia June 20-30, discharging China, at USD 3.55 per ton with a 2-day load and 25,000-ton discharge. – Panamaxes are improving in the East, especially due to cargoes coming out of Australia. W. Coast N. American cargoes, however, are needed for markets solidarity. – Handymaxes are still enjoying high freight levels due to a number of cargoes coming out of Brazil/Argentina area. – On Panamax in Far East, Daiichi has fixed M/V «Sea Farer» 75,706 dwt, built 2000, delivery Thailand June 20-23 trip via Indonesia, redelivery Japan at USD 8,500 daily, while Glory Wealth has fixed M/V «Global Vigor» 64,197 dwt, built 1983, delivery Australia June 21-26, redelivery China, at USD 5,500 daily and USD 70,000 ballast bonus. – On grain cargoes, Cargill for 60,000 tons of cargo loading US Gulf June 26-30, discharging Egypt, has fixed at USD 9.95 per ton with 10,000-ton load and a 10,000-ton discharge.
