Greek equities give up 3.39 pct

A bearish mood returned to the Greek bourse yesterday, with most stocks heading south on news of the widening spread between the Greek and German state bonds. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,030.28 points yesterday, declining by 3.39 percent from Tuesday’s close at 2,101.54 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 3.95 percent to end at 1,020.28 points. All but one blue chip registered losses yesterday, led by Viohalco (down 7.45 percent), Piraeus Bank (6.88 percent), Intralot (6.15 percent), Alpha Bank (5.89 percent), EFG Eurobank (5.87 percent) and National Bank (5.52 percent). OTE was the only blue chip to end higher (up 0.79 percent). Turnover amounted to 231.7 million euros.
