Stocks end week on a high note

Greek stocks jumped more than 3 percent yesterday on increased buying interest in banks, helping the bourse end with minor gains for the week. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index added 3.15 percent to 2,048.32 points, ending the week with gains of 0.72 percent. Banks added 5.12 percent, trimming weekly losses to 0.79 percent. National Bank added 4.98 percent to 16.01 euros and peer Alpha jumped 8.80 percent to 7.05 euros. PPC also outperformed rising 4.23 percent to 13.55 euros. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index advanced 3.85 percent to 1,037.14 points. Turnover reached 277.4 million euros versus 292 million in the previous session.
