Stocks gain for third session

Late-session selling in banks helped trim gains on the Athens bourse yesterday as the broader market advanced for the third straight session. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index firmed 0.26 percent to 2,087.45 points after touching on 2,113 points during the session. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index inched ahead 0.06 percent to 1,040.70 points. Banks dipped 0.31 percent after National rose 0.39 percent to 15.51 euros. Alpha slipped 1.77 percent to 7.20 euros and Eurobank ended at 6.39 euros, off 1.69 percent for the day. Coca-Cola Hellenic gained 2.71 percent to 20.08 euros while betting company OPAP climbed 1.74 percent to 16.33 euros. Turnover reached 152.2 million euros versus 159 million in the previous session.
