Ministry calls for discussion on cabotage restrictions
The Economy, Competitiveness and Merchant Marine Ministry is calling on interested parties to take part in a public discussion on planned changes to cabotage restrictions. The ministry has prepared guidelines for the lifting of the restrictions in a draft bill expected to be submitted to Parliament by early next week. Cabotage restrictions ban cruise operators from starting or ending voyages in Greece unless at least 10 percent of the ship’s crew are Greek nationals. The Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) described the proposals as lacking clarity and perpetuating problems created by the regulation.
