Myconos…

Visitors to the popular holiday destination of Myconos are seen enjoying themselves in this photo, but the Finance Ministry says it is busy catching tax cheats on the island. The ministry said yesterday it imposed fines and taxes worth 3.9 million euros on the owner of Nammos bar after he was caught breaching several tax laws. On Monday, the ministry announced plans to shut down nearly 70 businesses for up to a month in September for violating tax regulations as it pushes ahead with efforts to stamp out tax evasion.
