Hellenic Statistical Authority…

Dark clouds continue to hang over the Greek construction sector, as Hellenic Statistical Authority data released yesterday showed activity in the domain posting a 13 percent drop in new permits, a 31.6 percent slide in terms of the surface built and a 28.9 percent decline in volume in June compared to the same month in 2009. There were 4,666 new permits issued in June concerning 809.4 square meters and 3,079 cubic meters. The decline is attributed to flagging demand for new homes due to the country’s ongoing economic crisis.
