Metro Line 4 tender to start in 2011

Infrastructure Minister Dimitris Reppas (l) and Christos Tsitouras, president of Attiko Metro, are seen conversing yesterday during the presentation of the Athens metro’s new Line 4 (seen on the map in orange), as Reppas announced that the first section of the line will be auctioned from early 2011, starting with the relevant study. The first section will start from Galatsi and end at Evangelismos in Kolonaki, including 12 stations. From Evangelismos, it will later head north to Zografou, with future extensions planned for the areas of Vyronas, Ilioupoli and Metamorphosi, forming a ‘U.’ The project will cost 3.3 billion euros, 1 billion of which will be funded by the European Investment Bank. Reppas added that Aghia Paraskevi station on Line 3 will open next month.
