TANKERS The traditional route Arabian Gulf / Japan very firm, with VlCCs fixed at W/S 62.5. – Suezmax market not only in the Med., but in W. Africa as well, also remains firm. – Exxonmobil in the Med. has fixed M/T «Besiktas» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 25 Egypt, discharging Augusta, at W/S 87, while in W. Africa Repsol has fixed M/T «Tito Tapias» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 7, discharging Spain, at W/S 80. – On Aframax, Med. market on the correct path with modern ships fixed between W/S 117.5-122.5, while vessels built in 1980s are fixed at around W/S 105. – Steady conditions on the Cont. while Caribs remains weak, with Citgo having fixed M/T «Moscow Kremlin» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 19, discharging USG, at W/S 100. – In the Med., Sibneft, for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 14 Black Sea, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Kentucky» at W/S 115. – On the Cont., Stasco has fixed M/T «Nordgulf» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 26, discharging USAC, at W/S 120. – In Caribs, Orion has fixed AET tonnage for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 14 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 107.5. – In W. Africa, Petroplus has fixed M/T «Eliomar» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 27, discharging UKC/Med., at W/S 78.75. DRY CARGO Conditions for Capers in the Atlantic and Far East quieter. – On Panamaxes, the East market is slightly on hold due to the longshoremen’s strike on the West Coast. – Atlantic market with a lot of vessels in the doldrums, a situation highlighted by the 2001 75,900 dwt M/V «Torm Rotna,» which was paid at USD 10,250 daily. – On grain cargoes, Dreyfus, for 55,000 tons of cargo, loading US Gulf Oct. 18-25, discharging China, has fixed at USD 23.40 per ton, with 10,000 tons load and 5,000 tons discharge. – Handymax still in good demand, with Noble having fixed M/V «Lord P,» 23,821 dwt, built 1985, delivery Muscat Oct. 9-11, trip via India, redelivery Oman, at USD 5,500 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, PCL has fixed M/V «Global Challenger,» 73,218 dwt, built 1996, delivery mid-Oct. Japan, for 4-6 months, at USD 8,750 daily. – On coal trades, VSP has fixed M/V «Sun Bulker» for 50,000 tons of cargo, loading Australia Oct. 15-25, discharging East Coast India, at USD 11.90 per ton with 20,000-ton load and 5,000-ton discharge.
