TANKERS The present Aframax rates are being maintained in most areas. Med. market is still being negotiated around W/S 140, while Cont. remains at W/S 117.5. – Caribs firm with the 70,000-ton cargo liftings at W/S 225. Suezmaxes in the Med. at W/S 140 for the 135,000 tons of cargoes, although there are rumors that even W/S 150 was being fixed on some subjects. – The W. Africa market is smooth with Emerald at W/S 120 for USAC discharge, while Sun for same destination has succeeded levels of W/S 115. – Cont. at W/S 120 for USAC / US Gulf destinations, while Cross Caribs are at around W/S 130 for 130,000-ton cargoes. In the Med., Erg for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 10 Syria, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «Iran Amol» at W/S 145. – In the Cont., CSSA for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 12 for UKC round-trip voyage, has fixed M/T «Moss» at W/S 117.5. – In Caribs, Orion for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 24, discharging US Gulf, has fixed Teekay tonnage at W/S 225. – In W. Africa, Emeral for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 27, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Atlantis» at W/S 120. DRY CARGO Quiet start to the week with a limited number of fixtures. On Capers, Posco for 150,000 tons of coal, loading end Nov. / beg. Dec. Australia, discharging China, has fixed HMM tonnage at USD 5.57 per ton with 45,000-ton load and 35,000 tons discharge. – Panamaxes, are still enjoying high freight levels with major gains being made in the East. Charterers are still showing good demand for short T/C periods. – Pan Ocean has fixed M/V «Nordtrave» 75,080 dwt, built 2001, delivery Nov. 7-10 Taiwan for 4-6 months period, at USD 9,650 daily, while Cargill has fixed M/V «Captain Diamantis» 74,500 dwt, built 2000, delivery Nov. 3-5 for same period, at USD 9,250 daily. – In the Atlantic, NYK has fixed M/V «Ever Blossom,» 72,512 dwt, built 1997, delivery beg. Nov. Passero, trip via US Gulf, redelivery Far East, at USD 12,750 daily. – On smaller sizes, ED&F man has fixed M/V «Arosia,» 32,454 dwt, built 1983, delivery Mexico Nov. 5-10. redelivery UKC at USD 8,200 daily.
