TANKERS Quieter conditions with little fresh inquiry for Suezmaxes out of W. Africa. VLCCs are still fixed out of this area at levels in the low 80s. – Med. on Suezmaxes at W/S 142.5, while Cont. at W/S 120 has minor activity. – Aframaxes steady in the Med., around W/S 137.5 for modern and W/S 122.5 for older units. – Cont. marginally lower, with rates around W/S 117.5 for cross 80,000 tons cargoes. – Caribs with a number of fixtures ranging from W/S 188 to W/S 207.5, depending on loading dates and charterer. – In Med., Agip for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 26 Syria, discharging UKC/Med., has fixed M/T «Vergina II» at W/S 137.5. – In the Cont., Petroplus for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 18, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Valiant» at W/S 115. – In Caribs, BP has fixed M/T «SKS Torrens» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 28, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 202.5. – In W. Africa, CSSA for 131,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 10, discharging UKC/Med., has fixed at W/S 110. DRY CARGO Capers market is coming off with BHP Billiton in the Atlantic having fixed M/V «Nightwhisper» 170,210 dwt, built 1985, delivery Germany 18-20 Nov. for three to five months’ period, at USD 17,000 daily. – Panamax market also appears quieter in the Atlantic mainly due to holidays around the world including in France, USA, Poland and Canada. Noble has fixed M/V «Tian Hua Feng» 73,996 dwt, built 2001, delivery US Gulf Nov. 19-30, redelivery Far East, at USD 11,250 daily and USD 325,000 ballast bonus. – Far East busier with a number of fixtures. Glory Wealth has fixed M/V «Fu Da» 71,330 dwt, built 1997, delivery/redelivery China mid-Nov., trip via W. Australia, at USD 10,250 daily, while Dreyfus has fixed M/V «Laut Fortune» 69,100 dwt, built 1994, delivery Korea end Nov., redelivery Far East, at USD 9,800 daily. – Handies remain strong, especially out of the Continent. Tormar has fixed M/V «Rosina Topic» 45,251 dwt, built 2000, delivery Skaw mid-Nov. via Baltic, redelivery US Gulf, at USD 10,250 daily. – On ore cargoes, BM Minerals has fixed M/V «Obelix I» for 180,000 tons of cargo loading Australia Nov. 10-20, discharging China, at USD 5.15 per ton with two days’ load and 30,000 tons discharge.
