TANKERS Busier market in N. Sea with rates at W/S 117.5 to W/S 130, while W. Africa market in Suezmaxes is coming back with a number of fixtures at W/S 110 for US Gulf destinations. – Aframaxes in the Med. remain stable, with modern tonnage at W/S 140 and overage at W/S 125. – Caribs a bit firmer with the 70,000-ton cargo liftings at W/S 200 to W/S 210. – In the Med., KPC for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 20 Libya, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «Iran Amol» at W/S 142.5. – In the Cont., BP for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 28 Baltic Sea, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Natura» at W/S 117.5. – In Caribs, Stasco for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading November 26, discharging US Gulf has fixed M/T «Kuban» at W/S 190. – In W. Africa, Vitol for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading December 10, discharging US Gulf, has fixed Alliance tonnage at W/S 110. DRY CARGO Capers market is weakening further with their index six points lower, totaling 1,874. – Panamax rates in the Atlantic are holding, despite less inquiry. In the traditional grain route, US Gulf / Japan owners are insisting on USD 25.00 per ton, with latest known fixtures at USD 24.50. – All the action in the Panamax market is in the East, with the differential between Atlantic and Pacific close to USD 500 daily. – Glory Wealth has fixed M/V «Thalassini Niki,» 73,236 dwt, built 1994, delivery Indonesia November 12-15, trip via Australia, redelivery S. China at USD 12,500 daily. – Handies quieter in the Atlantic with increased activity in Far East. – Transyang has fixed M/V «Ruby Crest,» 73,317 dwt, built 1997, delivery East Coast Kalimantan November 12-15, redelivery Taiwan, at USD 10,900 daily and USD 135,000 ballast bonus. – In Atlantic, Bottiglieri has fixed M/V «Tai Plenty,» 73,700 dwt, built 2000, delivery November 20-25 Brazil for 3-5 month period, at USD 11,000 daily and USD 270,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, Voc has fixed M /V «Med Integrity,» 43,381 dwt, built 1984, delivery US Gulf mid-November for 4-6 month period, at USD 10,000 daily. – On coal cargoes, Cargill for 140,000 tons, loading mid-December S. Africa, discharging Rotterdam, has fixed M/V «Yukon» at USD 8.40 per ton with 2 days load and 25,000 tons discharge.
