5th Sector

Accountancy, marketing and police academies won the interest of most candidates in the fifth academic sector. But the Finance and Bank Administration Department of the University of Piraeus, despite diminished interest from candidates this year, topped the list of preferences (1,435 this year, compared to 1,808 last year), as it has done for the past few years. On the other hand, larger numbers of candidates are turning to the TEI in the sector, with 747 candidates marking the Accountancy Department at Piraeus TEI as their first choice this year as against 465 last year. As a result, the department overtook its equivalents at the University of Macedonia and the Athens University of Economics and Business. Moreover, 815 candidates made the Department of Business Administration at TEI Athens their first choice this year, as against 611 last year. It is noteworthy that among the first 10 schools in the sector that headed the list of candidate preferences was the Commerce and Advertising Department of the Athens TEI, which surpassed the Accounting and Finance Department of the Athens University of Economics and Business. The latter was often downgraded to second or third choice for candidates.
