A 1.4-meter long fossilized tusk…

A 1.4-meter long fossilized tusk of a huge ancestor of the elephant that roamed what is now Crete 7 to 9 million years ago was exhibited yesterday at the Iraklion Natural History Museum. The tusk was found along with other deinotherium giganteum bones in an excavation this autumn in the area of Siteia, in eastern Crete.
