As fireworks went off overhead, thousands of Thessaloniki residents gathered in the northern city’s Aristotelous Square yesterday to attend a Christmas pop concert laid on by municipal authorities. In Athens, outgoing Mayor Dimitris Avramopoulos presided last week over the lighting ceremony for the capital’s 40-meter-high artificial Christmas tree in Syntagma Square.
