The president of Athens Academy, Ioannis, Bishop of Pergamos, presents an award from the academy yesterday to schoolboy Ioannis Makridis who found a third-century BC coin on the Acropolis during a school trip this year and handed it over to the site guards. Honorees included the Anastassios G. Levendis Foundation, the Greek Special Olympics Federation and the Hellenic Society for the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage.
