As heavy rain fell over Athens for much of the day yesterday, soldiers were placed on guard on the banks of the flood-prone Kifissos River in Moschato and Neo Faliron, which have been inundated several times following storms over the past six months, mainly due to badly planned riverside roadwork. The Kifissos stayed well below danger levels yesterday.
