Anti-war demonstrators from London arrived in Thessaloniki aboard a red double-decker bus last night, on their way to Baghdad. The 35 activists are traveling on two old London buses, heading for Iraq to act as ‘human shields’ in an effort to prevent a US-led war against Iraq over its government allegedly hiding weapons of mass destruction. Organizers hope to gather at least 10,000 people from all over the world in Baghdad to send a message that they do not want war and to provide humanitarian assistance wherever necessary. The group will leave for Istanbul tomorrow and hopes to travel through Turkey and Iraq before getting to Baghdad in about 10 days.
