Prosecutor examines how police let PAOK hooligan slip

A preliminary investigation has been launched into how a soccer fan who invaded the pitch during the PAOK-AEK Greek Cup semifinal on Wednesday with a burning flare in his hand was able to evade police custody.

Thessaloniki prosecutor Evangelos Bakelas wants to know how police, who at one stage had apprehended the hooded man, managed to lose him.

The hooligan appeared to chase AEK players with the flare and then threw it at them when they ran down the players? tunnel. Nobody was injured.
