Shortages at Asklipeio Hospital under investigation
Health Ministry officials have begun an internal investigation at the Asklipeio Hospital in Voula, southern Athens, over claims of shortages of equipment in intensive care units.
Government sources suggested that the shortages are being caused by doctors and suppliers who worked together in the past to keep prices of supplies artificially high so both could profit.
Earlier this month, the director and deputy director of Alexandra Hospital were sacked after claims of equipment shortages and lack of equipment were found to be false by Health Ministry inspectors.
