Suspended terms for three cup final pitch invaders

Three of the people arrested during disturbances at the Greek Cup Final on Saturday have been given suspended sentences.

The three men were given suspended terms of between three and six months and will have to appear at their local police station when AEK is playing.

The game between AEK and Atromitos, which ended 3-0 in favor of the Yellows was disrupted several times because of pitch invasion and crowd trouble.

The referee ended the game several minutes early when dozens of AEK fans had gathered around the pitch to celebrate. Some fought with Atromitos players after the final whistle.

Two of those arrested on Saturday night were found innocent and were released. Another five suspects asked for more time to prepare their defense.

Deputy Minister for Sports Giorgos Nikitiadis told Parliament on Monday that a new draft law to combat violence at sporting events would be presented to the Cabinet next week.
