No exam leaks says government, as probe begins
There was no leaking of the university exams that senior high school students are currently sitting, the government said on Friday after a head teacher allegedly caught a pupil receiving answers on his mobile phone.
A prosecutor launched a probe after the pupil received answers for the business administration exam he was taking on Wednesday. Police sources said the text message with the answers was sent from a cramming school, which is suspected of sending similar messages to another 300 students.
However, the government insisted the person who sent the messages had answered the questions after they were posted on the Education Ministry?s site rather than receiving them beforehand. ?There is no question of leaks,? said Deputy Education Minister Yiannis Panaretos.
?The questions were posted on our site at 9.35 a.m. and the pupil received the message at 10.05 a.m.? Competition for university places is expected to be particularly fierce this year.
