Transplant group opposes government’s donors’ bill
The National Transplant Organization (EOM) on Monday issued a statement expressing its opposition to a bill drafted by the Health Ministry regarding organ transplants
EOM said it objects to provisions that would allow the donation of organs without the consent of a potential donor?s relatives and would allow the donation of live organs between people who cohabit.
EOM also objects to the bill?s introduction of the term ?presumed consent? and takes issue with the fact that it was not consulted during the drafting of the proposed reforms.
Last Friday, Yiannis Vlachoyiannis resigned from his post as head of EOM, citing objections to the organ bill.
