Unions protest against privatization plans
Employees at state-run companies that are among those that the government intends to privatize have reacted angrily to the sell-off plans.
Employees at the Hellenic Postbank, which is likely to be among the first to be privatized, are staging a sit-in protest at the bank?s main offices.
There was also a protest outside the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) while members of the Public Power Corporation?s workers? union (GENOP) are due to meet at the company?s headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.
Employees at OTE telecoms, where the government is set to reduce its stake even further, have called a 48-hour strike but it is not clear for which days.
