Freak accident kills Cretan family
A couple from the Cretan port of Hania and their three teenage children, aged 14, 16 and 18, were killed on Thursday in a freak accident near the German city of Munich when a cargo of logs tumbled off a lorry and landed on the car in which they were traveling.
The logs, which had not been properly fastened to the vehicle, fell onto the road, crushing the car and killing the entire family instantly.
The family had been accompanying the father to the German city on a business trip. The couple?s other child – a 3-month-old boy – had been left with relatives in Hania.
