Seamen to decide on strike action
Members of the Hellenic Seamen?s Union (PNO) are scheduled to meet with Alternate Merchant Marine Minister Haris Paboukis at 4 p.m. on Thursday to discuss their objections to the government?s plans to decrease their social security and pension benefits amid threats by unionists of imminent strike action that would paralyze the country?s ports.
PNO has said that the outcome of Thursday?s meeting with Paboukis will determine its course of action. Sources said the union is to announce its position on Friday.
