Revolutionary Struggle trial to start in October

The trial of suspected members of the Revolutionary Struggle urban guerrilla group has been set for October 5.

Eight suspected members of the group, who are accused of taking part in several raids that included a grenade attack on the US Embassy in Athens in January 2007 and the nonfatal shooting of policeman Diamantis Matzounis in January 2009, will stand trial in a special courtroom at Korydallos Prison.

The accused are Nikos Maziotis, Panayiota Roupa, Costas Gournas, Christoforos Kortetsis, Evangelos Stathopoulos, Sarantos Nikitopoulos and Maria Beracha.

Costas Katsenos, who remains at large, will be tried in absentia.
